I hope you have all enjoyed your break and are looking forward to beginning clinical. As you know, you will be participating in a difficult airway workshop on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

You will learn various techniques for difficult airway management.

I have listed 9 Youtube videos which you should watch before coming to the difficult airway workshop.

All of these videos will help you visualize the procedures/techniques that will be useful to you in managing a difficult airway and will also help to improve your understanding of the techniques during the workshop.

The first shows 3 failed intubations with direct laryngoscopy followed by the use of other adjuncts.

The second shows the use of a Bougie for intubation.

The third shows the use of the Glidescope video laryngoscope.

The fourth is a brief Glidescope tutorial- 1 minute 53 seconds

The fifth is a brief demonstration of a cricothyrotomy using a pig larynx.

The sixth is a non-narrated video of a cricothyrotomy with helpful instructions/captions

The seventh is a demonstration of the tracheal light wand

The eighth is a demonstration of the use of a Bougie for intubation

The ninth is a demonstration of the use of a McGrath video laryngoscope on a patient with limited head and neck movement.
